CCRED, short for the Centre for Competition, Regulation, and Economic\u00a0Development at the University of \u00a0ohannesburg, is all about gaining knowledge\u00a0through some serious research. We focus on important topics like industrial\u00a0development, competition, regulation, and how big companies behave. Our\u00a0specific interest is in how these factors impact the growth of regions in southern
and East Africa.<\/p>

But we\u2019re not just researchers \u2013 we\u2019re like a helpful guide in the economic world.\u00a0We take the insights we gather and turn them into expert advice, valuable\u00a0training, and capacity-building support. Our aim is to empower competition authorities, economic regulators, and governments to make informed decisions.<\/p>

CCRED came into being back in 2011, nestled within the Faculty of Economic\u00a0and Financial Sciences at the University of Johannesburg, which we now call\u00a0the College of Business and Economics. Initially, we operated as a virtual entity, working with a network of associates who produced research and taught about\u00a0competition economics.<\/p>

Then, in 2013, we decided to broaden our scope. We didn\u2019t just focus on\u00a0competition economics anymore \u2013 we expanded to look at industrial\u00a0development, local and regional growth, firm strategies, and economic regulation. We also built up a talented in-house research team and created initiatives to\u00a0boost skills and knowledge. We\u2019re here to make the economic world a little less\u00a0mysterious and a lot more understandable. and capacity building for competition authorities, economic regulators and governments.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
